Having babies is fun, but babies grow up into people

I had a HORRID day at work today. So I was completely looking forward to coming home and enjoying this sweet face...

...which I did for a while this evening until he said "go away, Mommy." He repeated it a couple of times while I was trying to dress him after his bath. It actually hurt my feelings! I can, admittedly, be a bit sensitive at times, but still. What's next, the words all parents dread, "I hate you." I sure hope I don't hear that ever, but at least not any time soon!

Once I actually left him alone and let Daddy take over, I think he really understood what he'd said. I am sure he didn't mean it, but it has given me an unpleasant look into the teenage years. That's not going to be pretty.

My feelings get hurt, too. I'm NOT looking forward to the teenage years. At all. I wish being a parent was all happy and thrilling. But it isn't, huh....

It's a 2-year-old thing. Lily is all about the "leave me alone!" and "I don't like [fill in the blank with a name and/or object]" thing. It hurt my feelings, too, and I'm just her aunt! Think about the moments when Jonathan wants to snuggle with you or says, "I love you, mommy!" instead 'cuz you know he does!

I get "Leave me alone" a most of the time, and it sucks, but so far Max hasn't reached that stage yet, so he is usually there to make me feel better :)

Oh boy, we haven't reached that YET, but I am certainly not looking forward to it either. I can see how us mommy's would get hurt feelings though.

You definitely aren't alone on this one. Sophie pushes me away constantly for "daddy."

Aww . . . I bet after being left alone for about 30 seconds, he wanted Mommy back! Look at it this way, at least you aren't living the horror that is "John and Kate Plus Eight." Some of those kids are psycho . . .

I totally dread that day, too! Even though I know they still love us, the "teenage angst" is scaring me a little bit. Don't worry, Jonathan loves you to pieces! :-)

Oh no- I am so sorry! That would have broken my heart. They have know idea the control they have over us- or maybe they do. hmmm...
