I've had my eye on this toddler bed for Jonathan for some time:
The price tag was a bit prohibitive, particularly since his room is currently Shammy Lamby from Pottery Barn Kids, requiring a complete redo. I have been keeping an eye on Craigslist and was thrilled when, last night, I found a posting for the exact right bed at less than a third of the retail cost. I was even more thrilled when, today, I learned it was not sold and that a quick trip across the river to Indiana would make it MINE (well, OK, Jonathan's, but the idea is the same).
We were intending to just put it in the basement until a later time but he was really excited about it, so we are trying it out tonight. Here are some shots of him in it after we got it all put together. It will look A LOT better when Bryan makes a new quilt and I move away from the green sheets, so envision bedding in a race car motif. Also picture it with the crib gone; we did not want to commit to taking it apart and lugging it downstairs until we were sure the toddler bed would work:
In less than an hour, we will be trying to actually put him to bed. Here's hoping it goes well and that he doesn't take advantage of the freedom of the toddler bed!

Oooh, I can't wait to hear how that turned out! Jonathan is so lucky to live in the Craigslist/Ebay era. If we had wanted something prohibitively expensive, it would have been a flat "no." And we would have still had to walk ten miles to school uphill in the snow. Shoeless.
Silly, Mommy! Of course he's going to take advantage of his new-found, bar-less freedom, but you had to make the move eventually. I'm so glad you found it on the cheap! I love a bargain.
Yeah! Let me know how it turns out. I went to Target today and redecorated Hailey's entire room in my head. I am so excited about her big girl bed!!!!! I also can't wait to redo her room for her birthday :)
Thanks so much for your sweet comment on my blog!
Do I ever know how expensive those beds can be! We actually bought the boys the twin-sized race car beds, one blue and one red. The red one we got on eBay and the blue one from Craigslist. We paid $140 for both. Thank goodness for online yard sales, right?!
How exciting!!!!! I'm scared to death to move to the big kid bed....good luck!
Oh, I loved the pictures....reminded me of when Mikey was little. He started out in that bed, then he moved to the twin racecar bed. Now, he's begging for a bunkbed. That will have to be IT for awhile!
Enjoy this time while you have it - it goes by fast.
It looks like he LOVES it!
What a great find!!!! I love it when people find really good deals out there! I've been debating on whether to put him in a regular bed or keep him in his crib/toddler bed for a couple more months but I should look around to see if Ebay or Craig's List has any more of those kind of beds. I think he would love it just as much as Jonathan.
Does Bryan make quilts? You guys amaze me with all your skills!!
Score! Nice find- I hope he is sleeping in it well for you!
