Idle Hands Lead to a Giveaway!

When Bryan's dad was in the hospital several years ago due to complications related to open heart surgery, he learned to knit. The skill was acquired out of a basic necessity to keep busy; hours spent days on end in a hospital waiting room will do that to a person. The events of earlier this month caused him to revive the habit, resulting in this:

Bryan thought it would be a good idea to do a giveaway of one of the scarves as, obviously, we are quite saturated. I wanted to take his picture with them but he was, for some reason, resistant. He is, contrary to his general nature, shy about this skill. I just don't get it, what woman wouldn't love a randomly crafty husband? I had a great time trying to get him to comply.

Bryan trying to take up entire frame of the picture, scarves in background nonetheless:

Bryan trying to snatch away the camera:

Bryan throwing a scarf at me in an attempt to impede my efforts:

Me trying to be sneaky and take a picture over my shoulder. Ineffective.:

During this process, Bryan stated that he would agree to the picture, but only if said scarves were wrapped around his ding dang. Since we didn't have enough scarves for that, I had to come up with my own arrangement. I can assure you that all of the scarves are ding dang contact free.

So if you would like to have one of these handmade beauties for your very own, post a comment to this blog. Please note any color preference you may have should you be chosen as the lucky winner. All of the scarves are roughly of the same width and length, but for the pink and purple striped one which came out a bit on the short side. Bryan will be reading the comments as well and would enjoy any Muppet or other similarly furry creature references. (Disclaimer: Despite the fact that he is pictured and despite the fact that Bryan would more than willingly allow him to take up residence in a new home, Arthur is NOT one of the giveaway options.)

All posts in by Tuesday, February 3, 2009 made by 11:59 p.m. will be in the running. Good luck and thanks in advance for helping me avoid a takeover of my home by furry knit objects.

I have NO idea what Jennifer is talking about. I'm too busy hunting and gathering to knit. This post is a farce. The pictures are photoshopped. I've been framed. My wife, reading over my shoulder just announced that I'm a dork. My job here is done. JBF

I am quite sure my husband Brian is leading a double life as your husband Bryan!!! My husband would have done and said all the same things!! Too funny.
Are you sure Arthur's not up for grabs? My dog shammy could use a playmate!
Anyway...I do like the furry scarves...they remind me of Sesame Street's Abby Cadaby ponytails!
I like the pink one or the bluish/pinkish multi-colored speckly one!
Thank you!

He rather looks like Muppet royalty. Either that, or a Muppet hunter wearing Muppet skins. Poor wittle Muppets.

Muppet.

I've lost my mind trying to pack up all my stuff for this move, obviously. But my new bedroom is going to be ... PURPLE!

This whole post was worth reading if only for the hilarity of "ding dang"!!!

I think Animal would love a scarf... do you have his address? "WEAR SCARF WEAR SCARF WEAR SCARF!!"

Maybe my husband has a secret ability that he's been hiding in the garage? I'll have to ask. LOL. I think it is great that you are creating something. I would love to learn out to knit. My daughter would love either of the teal ones. :)

Well I just had to comment about how great these are..and although they are ding dang free...I don't want to be put into the contest since I am still sporting my fab bag from the last contest. Everyone loves it. Much cooler than Vera Bradley b/c it is a orginial!

Bryan, really! You should own your craftiness! It's your God-given talent. A little Martha-Stewart-in-Prison-ish maybe, but a gift nonetheless. Oh, and I love, love, love the gold one, by the way!

Ok. Hilarious montage of photos! Thanks so much for the laugh.
I'm just getting around to catching up on everyone's blogs and imagine my surprise when I read this one! A knitting husband?! So unexpected and so fantastic!
Oh, and my favorite color is pink...

I LOVE the pink and purple one. It doesn't match a darn thing I own, but I love it. Actually, I'd be happy to give ANY of the scarves a home. They look so soft. I wish I could knit...

Did I win? When do I get my scarf? Any color is fine with me. I'm not picky.
