Offficialy a Soccer Mom

Jonathan started three year old soccer and today was picture day. There are five kids on his team and I am happy that his colors are green and white, just like good old Winfield Middle and High Schools. Their first game is two weeks from today and I can't wait! Here are a few pics from the gym. They are not the best but you can get the gist of his excitement. Let me just say that the company taking the pictures of all the different teams had their work cut out for them!

Ten More

1. Jonathan had his first day in the Preschool room today and he did great! He got a bit upset when he saw Darla, his two year old teacher whom he has been with for the last fourteen months, but he was totally OK besides that. I feel the same way when I think about leaving Darla so I certainly can not blame him!

2. It is amazing how a three year old can attempt to subsist on solely junk food and still look like this:

3. I made these cupcakes for my assistant's birthday a few weeks ago. They continue to make me happy:

4. I got a new computer at work today and it is AWESOME. DVD burner, 22" flat screen monitor, the works. My old computer was operating on Windows 98 and therefore would not do the network update required for our new security software. This gave my boss no other option than to replace it. It is so nice to have moved away from the ghetto-ness that was my old desktop.

5. We are traveling to Champaign, Illinois this weekend for my MIL's sister's 50th wedding anniversary celebration. I am wondering how the three of us in one hotel room is going to work--I do not see any way that Jonathan's normal eight o'clock bedtime is happening.

6. This is how the deliciousness that was The Pioneer Woman's chicken spaghetti turned out last week. It was fabulous:

7. I need to fix more dinners like this because it allowed us to all eat together. We do not get home most nights until around six. Since Jonathan goes to bed at eight, there is not a lot of time for cooking dinner--we feed him early; Bryan and I eat later, after he goes to bed. We all enjoyed the chicken spaghetti, though, and, since I got it ready to bake the night before, it was a cinch to pop it in the oven when I got home for work:

8. Bryan and I went out with friends Saturday night and I overindulged on wine. It took me two days to recover.

9. Participating in this activity the day after said wine indulgence was not a good choice:

10. While talking to a co-worker today about the fact that women's gymnastics is on television tonight (YES!), I mentioned that I was never able to do a cartwheel. I thought I was an odd ball on that one, but she told me she was never able to do one either. WHEW--it made me feel so much better about my uncoordinated self!

Just a Bit More Birthday

My sister and brother in law were in town a few weeks ago for a magic convention so we decided to have Jonathan's family birthday party at the same time. Laura LOVES to lavish Jonathan with super nice gifts. This year, it was a Ford F-150 Power Wheel. Needless to say, he LOVED it. It certainly doesn't hurt that my dad, one of Jonathan's idols, has a similar truck. It's a Chevy, but Jonathan does not know the difference. You can see Laura and Todd in the background of the second picture.

Jonathan is totally emulating me in this one. I wish I could blame this on someone else...

I said that I would make the Pablo cake again for the family party, but it was a huge pain in the you-know-what to make, so the bug cupcakes made a re-appearance. Since Jonathan did not see the first batch, he marveled at my creativity :)

Jonathan's cousin, Aiden, was more than happy to help him open presents:

And Todd was more than happy to put on a magic show. Podiatry is his trade by day, but his real passion is magic and he is GOOD!

Unless you ask my Mom's chihuahua, Abby:

Seriously, though, a good time was had by all!

Ten on Tuesday

Howdy all! I finally remembered that it's Tuesday in time to do a list of ten. I am immeasurably excited as my life has been pretty uneventful lately.

1. Jonathan and I met Bryan at the mall to get Jonathan new shoes and then to have dinner. I am lucky enough to not have to drive the interstate on a regular basis. Therefore, today I was perplexed at how it rains two drops and traffic travels at a pace that would be reasonable only under blizzard conditions.

2. While buying aforementioned shoes, why did my son have two melt downs, one while his foot was being measured and the second when the super nice shoe lady put his old shoes in the box? It was horribly embarrassing and frustrating simultaneously. We did, however, buy these, and that makes me so much happier than the Thomas light up shoes he was heretofore sporting.

3. Potty training has been going really well. However, on Saturday, while we were at Joe and Cindy's house and Jonathan was upstairs playing with their daughter Lily, Jonathan got really involved in playing and, next thing I knew, he was screaming for me to come upstairs. He'd number two-ed in his pants, with the explanation being that "it just fell out." Seriously, how does that happen?

4. I am obscenely excited about our October trip to the Mayan Riveria. A full seven days and seven nights of child-free adult activity. This is where we are staying. The countdown on my Google homepage says it's only 76 more days. Woo hoo!

5. I am making this for dinner tomorrow night. Even though I just ate dinner, looking at that food makes me hungry.

6. I tried to resist reading The Pioneer Woman for some time because she already has so many readers but then I DID read it and now I understand why--it's really well written and interesting!

7. As of yesterday, I finally joined Facebook. I love it.

8. I am currently obsessed with my Nintendo DS. I've had it for going on two years but really got back into playing it the last few weeks, thanks to my sister's glorious gift of Guitar Hero On Tour.

9. I almost cried with happiness yesterday when my People arrived in the mail with the pictures of the Joile-Pitt twins. I'm not a big Brangelina fan, but I could not wait to see those pictures. It was 19 pages of sheer bliss.

10. I DID get teared up today when I was listening to Jimmy Buffett and realized it will be months and months before I get to unleash my inner Parrothead again. Heather, we need to go more than once next year!

And because even a Ten on Tuesday post needs a picture, here is one of Jonathan from his zoo birthday party. The kid is a complete stinker...
